THE AMY WINEHOUSE FOUNDATION
Addiction has touched so many of us- whether it’s our own personal struggles or witnessing it as a friend/family battles it. This is why we have chosen Amy Winehouse Foundation as our cause of the month.
The Amy Winehouse Foundation is a registered charity in England and Wales. It was set up in memory of English singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse (1983–2011).
The Amy Winehouse Foundation works to prevent the effects of drug and alcohol misuse on young people. It works to support, inform and inspire vulnerable and disadvantaged young people to help them reach their full potential.
MORE ABOUT THE AMY WINEHOUSE FOUNDATION
Since 2011, the Amy Winehouse Foundation has established itself as one of the UK’s leading charities working with disadvantaged young people.
Everything they do is designed to build meaningful connections with the children and young people we work with – to form relationships that foster hope and optimism. They do this in three ways:
Co-production – they work with our beneficiaries to understand how and what support currently exists and what is needed.
Collaboration – they work with other charities and organisations to develop new approaches.
Sharing lived experience – over 90% of their employees and volunteers have had similar challenges to the children and young people we work with. By providing genuine examples of overcoming adversity in their own lives, peer workers can inspire empowerment and self-determination.
